Pro Production Sessions Announced for NAMM/Parnelli Awards
As if you needed another reason to go to the NAMM show besides the Parnelli Awards … our team has put together some must-attend Pro Production Sessions presented by Front of House; Stage Directions, and Projection, Lights & Staging News magazines. Returning to NAMM 2019 with three jam-packed days of exciting learning opportunities within NAMM’s Event Technology Education. Held January 24th-26th, these sessions are excellent learning and networking opportunities. We are bringing the leading names in entertainment production together to offer a deeper look into iconic projects’ designs and the forward-looking trajectory of production technology during keynotes, single speaker and panel presentations. The best of the best working today explain the highs and lows of an industry career in production, and discuss how the different roles in the industry create the stage environments that support the musical artists’ work and the audiences’ experience.
Among the highlights of the Pro Production sessions will be the In-Conversation With… interview series, featuring in-depth discussions of production in events and music. Among those participating in these interview sessions will be Yvan Miron, founder of Stageline and the 2019 Parnelli Visionary Award Recipient. Miron’s innovation has had a tremendously positive effect on live entertainment, allowing for events to go up in places traditional stages can’t; doing so everywhere faster and safer. Stageline stages are in 45 countries around the world; used for 20,000 events a year. Miron has been relentless in achieving his goal of making safer stage choices available and through it all he’s been a beacon of dedication to the environment, creating stages that require a significantly less carbon footprint from manufacturing through use. This session will offer a unique chance to gain insight into Miron’s innovative thinking.
Also In Conversation at the Pro Production sessions will be the 2019 Parnelli Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient, Chris Adamson. He has worked as tour manager/director and/or production manager for some of the greatest acts in the music industry including The Byrds, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and Pink Floyd, through to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Aerosmith, and John Mayer/Dead and Company. Adamson has previously won three Parnelli Awards for his work, including winning Tour Manager of the Year at the 2018 Parnellis. With a well-deserved reputation as a consummate industry pro with an affable gregarious nature, it promises to be a lively conversation not to be missed.
Our third In Conversation session will featured Butch Allen, the renowned production designer and lighting designer, he also works as creative director, designer and producer with MODE Studios. Allen is among the very top designers and creative talents globally, in not just concert touring but also event, broadcast, and experiential projects. Known for truly ground-breaking, boundary-erasing designs that create unrivaled audience experiences. Winner of the 2017 Parnelli Award for Lighting Designer of the Year for his design for Paramore, further validation of Butch’s unmatched wizardry appears in his creations for brands like Chevrolet, for eSports events for Activision/Blizzard, and for broadcast spectacles like America’s Got Talent and Dancing with The Stars. The bands he’s designed for include Christina Aguilera, Black Sabbath, Eric Church, Kelly Clarkson, The Eagles, Gwen Stefani, Van Halen and Yes, to name but a few.
The Pro Production sessions are pleased to also announce, and honored to again welcome, Kevin Lyman to NAMM. The highly esteemed Lyman, Founder/Producer of The Warped Tour; CEO/Founder 4Fini, will look at the evolutions happening in the music landscape, as he wraps the final Warped Tour. Lyman will talk about what he sees as the future of live music festivals and the need to incorporate social responsibility reflecting modern culture. Having helped shape youth culture for over three decades with his award-winning expertise in the music and entertainment industry as well as business and philanthropic ventures, Lyman has been recognized as the Billboard Touring Awards Humanitarian of the Year (2009), and an honoree at the Grammy/MusiCares MAP Fund gala (2011 and 2014).
